Investment Approach
We invest in regions of Mozambique with agroecosystems well suited to commercial afforestation and within economic reach of markets. We target landholdings where financial value can be unlocked by monetizing social and ecological attributes within our overarching landscape strategy. Plantation forests are established on estates with demonstrated degradation and little to no possibility of returning to their original state.
We seek to diversify our revenue streams to include carbon credits alongside revenue from traditional sustainable forest plantation products. Carbon revenues are pivotal to developing plantation forests and supporting natural habitat stewardship. They help de-risk investments in plantation forests, provide price and volume certainty for investors, and support outcomes such as biodiversity restoration and community partnerships.
We strive to diversify revenue to reduce reliance on commodity markets. When developing carbon projects, we partner with Investimento Florestal de Moçambique Lda to achieve meaningful scale and seek offset buyers who offer price and volume certainty in exchange for a steady stream of the highest-quality, nature-based credits. The value and probability of carbon and conservation project revenues are weighed against other estate attributes, including timber productivity, access to infrastructure and processing, fire risk, and disposal opportunities.
